THE BRIDGING.LIFE STORY

I created my practice to help people bridge the gap between emotional struggle and meaningful growth, offering compassionate guidance that builds resilience and self-discovery.

Robin St. JamesFOUNDER, BRIDGING.LIFE

I started with a BS in Psychology. Then I kept going, because a degree is a foundation, not a finish line. I'm certified in Polyvagal Theory, the science of how your nervous system decides whether you're safe before you're even consulted, and I hold university-accredited certification as a Wellness, Financial, and Life Coach, because feeling better in a session and actually rebuilding your life outside of it are two very different jobs.

Before this became my full-time work, I spent years as a business practitioner. I never left that skill set at the door, and I'm not starting now. I use all of it: nervous system science, coaching frameworks, plain practical strategy, because you don't stop being a whole person just because we're talking about your trauma. Most practices ask you to leave half of yourself at the door. I don't.

For the past seven years, most of that work has centered on people rebuilding their lives after narcissistic abuse: the specific, disorienting task of learning to trust your own perception again after someone spent years quietly rewriting it. Most of my clients arrive after they've already done the PTSD work elsewhere. What they need next isn't more processing, it's rediscovering who they actually are and what they actually want, instead of a life quietly built around someone else's idea of them. I know how exhausting it is to explain your situation from scratch to someone new, which is part of why I stay genuinely reachable: real availability during the week, sessions that run as long as the work needs, and a first conversation that costs you nothing but your time.

THE PHILOSOPHY

Why “bridging.”

A bridge doesn't erase the distance between two places. It makes crossing possible without pretending the gap isn't real. That's the model here: not skipping the hard middle of the work, but building something sturdy enough to actually cross it on.

The name is literal, too. This practice bridges disciplines that are usually kept in separate rooms: clinical psychology, nervous system science, coaching, and the practical mechanics of an actual life, meaning money, habits, relationships. A person going through something hard doesn't experience it in separate rooms. Neither should the help.

THE LANDSCAPE

You've probably already tried some of this.

Traditional therapy, coaching, spiritual work: most people arrive here after trying pieces of all three. Here's how this practice is actually built.

Traditional Therapy

One lens, one hour

Often a single method, a fifty-minute hour, and a focus on talk that can leave your body and nervous system out of the room entirely.

Life & Wellness Coaching

Motivation, minus the science

Practical and energizing, but rarely trauma-informed: accountability without the clinical grounding to know what your nervous system is actually doing.

Spiritual & Alternative Healing

Meaning, minus the plan

Can be genuinely transformative, but sometimes short on structure: connection and insight without a practical plan for Monday morning.

Bridging.Life

All of it, in one practitioner

A psychology degree, Polyvagal Theory certification, and accredited coaching training. Body, nervous system, relationships, and meaning, worked on together. No fifty-minute limit. No lane you have to pick.

METHODOLOGIES

Integrative healing pathways for holistic wellness.

This isn't "let's talk about your childhood." This is "let's rewire it."

Somatic

Somatic healing uses body awareness to release trauma and restore balance. Your body holds the wisdom. I help you listen.

Neuro-Informed

Neuro-informed work integrates brain science to help rewire thought patterns, regulate emotion, and support healing through an understanding of your nervous system.

Transpersonal Guidance

Transpersonal guidance blends psychological and spiritual growth, exploring expanded states of awareness and connection beyond the personal self. Healing that honors your soul, not just a diagnosis code.

WHAT WORKING TOGETHER LOOKS LIKE

The arc of the work, start to further along.

Not a script. A rough shape, because the actual pace and order is built around you.

01

A Real First Conversation

No forms, no intake script. An honest conversation about where you are and whether this is the right fit: free, no pressure.

02

A Toolkit Built Around You

No off-the-shelf program. We draw from somatic work, nervous system science, and practical strategy to build the specific set of tools your life needs.

03

Support That Doesn't Clock Out

Sessions aren't capped at fifty minutes, and I'm reachable during the week, because insight doesn't always happen on schedule.

04

Integration, Not Just Insight

The goal isn't a breakthrough in a room. It's a nervous system, a set of habits, and a life that actually hold the change once you leave it.

INSIDE A SESSION

What a session actually feels like.

There's no fixed script waiting for you when you sit down. A session usually starts with a real check-in: not "how was your week," but an honest read on what your body and nervous system are actually carrying that day, because that shapes everything else we do together.

From there, the shape of the hour depends on what shows up. Some sessions stay mostly in conversation: untangling a pattern, working through a decision, making sense of something that happened. Others move into the body: slow, somatic work to help your nervous system actually register safety instead of just hearing about it intellectually. Many blend both, because insight without a regulated body rarely sticks, and a regulated body without insight can't tell you why.

There's no clock forcing an end when the work is mid-thread. If we need forty minutes, we take forty. If we need two hours, we take two. And when something practical comes up (a decision, a boundary, a plan you need help building), we build it right there, instead of sending you to figure it out alone between now and next week's fifty-minute slot.

HOW THIS WORKS

What makes this different.

A practice built around you, not a diagnosis, with room to move at the pace real healing actually takes.

Dappled sunlight on a quiet, moss-covered garden floor

Whole-person, not just talk

I don't just talk. We work with your body, energy, and subconscious to unlock deep healing.

No single path required

I support all paths, medicine-based or not, and recommend nutraceuticals for some clients when it's the right fit.

Tools built around you

No generic program handed to you. Together, we craft a one-of-a-kind set of tools, uniquely tailored to you.

Support beyond the session

I'm available during the week when you need it, and sessions aren't limited to fifty minutes.

A team when you need one

I bring in other practitioners when the work calls for it. You're never limited to just my toolkit.

Your entire being is the focus

Not simply your psychology. Your body, your nervous system, and your sense of meaning all matter here.

FAQ

Good questions to ask before you start.

How is this different from traditional therapy?

I don't just talk. We work with your body, energy, and subconscious to unlock deep healing.

What stage should I be at before reaching out?

Most of my clients arrive after they've already done the PTSD work elsewhere. This is the next stage: launching a new life, and remembering who you actually are and what you actually want, instead of a life quietly built around someone else's idea of you.

Do I need to have “given up” on therapy or coaching to work with you?

Not at all. Plenty of clients keep a therapist or coach and bring this in alongside. Think of it as the connective layer between the approaches you've already tried.

Do I need to use psychedelics to work with you?

No. I support all paths, medicine-based or not. I do recommend some nutraceuticals for certain clients when it fits their goals.

Will you simply give me a program to follow?

Together, we'll craft a one-of-a-kind set of tools, uniquely tailored to you, not a script pulled off the shelf.

What are some other differences?
  • I'm available during the week should you need assistance.
  • My sessions are not limited to fifty minutes.
  • I bring in other practitioners when the need arises.
  • Your entire being is the focus, not simply your psychology.
